Pairing: Roxas X OC
Summary: These two have been at each other's throats for years. Never have they ever gotten along and they never plan to. But when the Halloween Dance comes around and they mysteriously meet, it reveals a surprising secret between the two. It leaves one of them wondering, "How did this war between us even start?"
“Roxas, our class is
this way...” Hayner pointed as he nodded, “I know. But I wanna find Leon first.
I gotta ask him about Star."
"Just find him at lunch. We don't have enough time to-"
"He's right there." Roxas pointed as he headed over, "Leon!" He turned to the two, "Do I know you?"
"No. We're juniors..." Roxas responded. "I was wondering how I can get in touch with your friend Star?"
"Through me." He said seriously. "What do you want with Star?" He replied, "I wanted to talk to her. We hung out at the dance and-"
"Whatever you have to say to her, you can say to me."
"What's the problem with meeting up with her-" Hayner began to argue, but stopped as Leon gave him an intense glare. Roxas continued, "I wanted to give her something...."
"Then I'll take it to her." He held out a hand to take it from him, but he refused, "No. I'd rather give it to her myself."
"Then I guess she's not gonna be getting--" Leon began as the PA system soon interrupted them, "If anyone had found a necklace the night of the dance that isn't theirs, please bring it to the office. The owner is looking for it."
"That must be her!" Hayner lit up. "She probably came back looking for it!" They quickly rushed off as Leon pondered, "Necklace?"
~
“Hey, Cid.” the teacher
heard as Kaylie came into his office. He beamed, “Kayls! How you doing kid?”
“Pretty well.” she
smiled. “You busy right now?”
“Always got time for you kid. You really saved my ass with deadlines last year. I owe you big time.” he told her as she asked, “Who was in charge of covering yearbook photos at the dance on Friday?”
“Yours truly.” he
stated. “You want photos?”
“Can I see what you got?” she asked as he nodded, looking through his computer. “Sure, kid. You sure missed out. The dance was one of the best I’ve seen in years. You should’ve seen your substitute DJ too. Amazing.”
“Heh, Star? I’ve
heard.” she smiled a bit happy at the compliment.
“Well, here they are.” he got out of his chair as she sat down and began looking through it. “Are you looking for something in particular?”
“I’m trying to find
someone who was at the dance... He was dressed as a vampire.” she told him as
he took the mouse from her and began searching, “Hmm, that’s gonna be a lil
tough. Vampires are popular among you youngsters so there was a handful of
them...”
“... oh, he had a full
set! Dark hair, pale face, fangs, and even red contacts.” she remembered as he
lit up, “Oh! I definitely got a picture of that guy! If we had a competition
for best costume, he’d probably would’ve won.” He scrolled through the photos
as she questioned, “Do you know who he was?”
“Nah, I was too busy
taking photos to talk to each person getting to know them.” he scoffed. “Why so
interested in this vampire?”
“Star hung out with him
at the dance.” she said. “And she wanted to know who he was... to satisfy her
curiosity. So I’m doing her this favor.”
“Oh, good. When you
take her this picture of her unknown vampire.... be sure to give her the pics I
got of her too.” he said going through the photos. She beamed, “Sure.” He
looked at the clock, “Might take a while. I’ll write you up an excused late
slip.”
“Thanks, Cid.” she
smiled at him. “You’re the best.” He nodded as they continued to look through
the photos.
“Do you see her?”
Hayner looked around the office filled with multiple people. Roxas shook his
head, “No...” He approached the secretary, “Excuse me... I found the necklace
that was lost at the dance. Is the owner here still? I’d like to properly
return it to her...”
“Yes... one moment.”
she smiled. She turned to the waiting area, “Yuffie. Your necklace...”
Then something clicked in his mind.
“STAR!!” She pulled away
from him, “Fi, of all times to-”
“My necklace~!” Yuffie,
Kaylie’s best friend approached them. “You guys are a lifesaver! I’ve been
looking for it all week--”
“Hang on.” Roxas
stopped her from taking it from his grasp. “You aren’t Star... you were her
friend distracting Seifer...” She flinched, but responded, “Yeah... but Star’s
been pretty packed with stuff and asked me to look for her necklace for her. So
can you please-”
“Sorry... but this is
really important to Star. She would definitely want to get it back herself.” he
said seriously as Yuffie began to get annoyed, “And she would, but she has a
lot on her plate right now. She can’t get away from her things and that’s why I
need to get it to her. She’s been super stressed without it!”
“Roxas... maybe you
should just-”
“I want to return it to
her myself.” he said strongly. “Just tell me where I can find her and I’ll get
it to her right away.”
“What the hell is your
problem?! Just give it to me so I can return it to her!” she scolded him as
they soon heard the bell ring for class.
“If you’re not gonna
tell me where she is, then I’ll have to find her myself.” he said leaving with
Hayner following behind.
~
“WHAT?!” Kaylie growled
as Yuffie told her what happened. They headed to lunch as she stormed over to
Roxas and his friends enjoying their lunch, “Hey, dweeb! That necklace doesn’t
belong to you!”
“It doesn’t belong to
you either.” he said confidently as she responded, “But it does belong to a
friend of mine and she wants it back! So hand it over!” He responded, “No. I’m
only gonna give it to Star. It means a lot to her.”
“Which is exactly why
she wants it back.” Kaylie fought as he said, “Then she would be the one asking
me for it... not you, not Yuffie.” Kaylie growled, “You realize that you’re
violating an order from the disciplinary committee. Give me the necklace before
I get angry...” He ignored her as they soon heard, “What’s the problem here,
Kayl?” She smirked as her brother and his gang approached, “These guys are
violating a direct order I gave them.”
“Violating a
disciplinary committee member...” Seifer sighed, writing up a few slips. “Looks
like you’re all getting detention.”
“W-Wha?!” Olette
panicked. “But that isn’t fair!”
“Are you arguing with
us now? Maybe I should make it a whole week of detention....” Seifer threatened
as she shut up, but the guys glared angrily. He continued on with his gang, punishing
other students as Kaylie said, “I’ll get rid of those detentions... if you give
me the necklace.”
“No.” Roxas said,
walking away from her as his friends followed. She clenched her fist as Yuffie
sighed, “Now what?”
“The only option.” she
replied. “I have to be Star again...”
“Are you sure? It’s
risky... especially if Seifer finds out about it.” Yuffie pointed out as she
nodded, “It’s the only way to get my necklace back.” She sighed, “Okay, How
about I take them to you after their detention? We could meet up somewhere your
brother would never go...”
“The library.” she lit
up. I’ll get dressed up as Star and meet you there.”
“Perfect.” she smiled.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Hey...” Roxas heard after school as he and Hayner headed to meet Pence and Olette to go to detention. Leon approached him, “Got a minute?” He nodded, leaving Hayner as he asked, “What’s up?”
“That necklace... you
said it was Star’s?” Roxas nodded as he continued, “Where’d you get it?”
“She dropped it when
she left. I tried to give it back to her, but she was long gone.” he explained
as Leon said, “Look, besides the stage, she’s not a very social person. I dunno
if anything happened between you two that night, but forget about it and think
about this... That necklace is special to her and you’re depriving her of that
important part of her life.”
“... I know. Which is
why I want to return it to her right away.” he said. Leon gave him a look as
they soon heard, “Leon!” Kaylie approached, glaring at Roxas, “Don’t you have
detention?” He didn’t answer as she shooed him away, “Don’t just stand there,
idiot! Go before I give you another one!” He left, giving her a glare as she
turned to Leon, “What the hell was that?”
“Gathering intel.” he
said. “You dropped your necklace and he was the one who found it. How does he
know its so important to you?”
“... I dunno. Besides
you and Yuffie... I only told....” she stopped as she shook her head, “No way.
That idiot couldn’t be... no it’s not possible...”
“What?”
“N-Nothing. Look, Yuffie and I are bringing Star back so we can get her necklace back. So if he asks you again, just lead him to us somehow ok?” He nodded as she smiled, “Thanks, Leon. I can always count on you.” She ran off before he could ask anymore questions.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Why would Star be here?” Hayner said two hours later as he, Roxas, Pence, and Olette arrived at the Twilight library with Yuffie. She explained, “I told you she’s been packed with stuff. She’s been studying her ass off. The dance was her only break in a long time...” She looked around and then at her watch, “I thought she would be here by-”
“Yuffie!” they heard as
they turned to see Star, in a casual strapless top and a pastel skirt. She wore
small black heels and matching sunglasses as she walked into the library. “Hey,
sorry I’m late...”
“Star.” Roxas lit up, a large smile on his face as she turned to him, questioning, “Do I know you?” He soon pulled out her necklace as she lit up, “Ah! You found my necklace! Thanks so much! You don’t know how badly I’ve been looking for it!”
“Yeah, sorry it took so long. It wasn’t exactly easy to find you...” he said as he stood in front of her. She pulled her sunglasses up and cupped her hands, waiting for him to drop it in her hands when he froze as he stared at her blue eyes. “W-Wait... Kaylie?!” She flinched as he pulled the necklace back, “What the hell is going on?!”
“Damn it! I knew this wouldn’t work Yuffie!” she groaned as she began to tie her hair back up into pigtails. Yuffie gave her a look, “Kay-”
“Look, you were so set on giving it to Star so we only had the option of pretending to be her. And so I got talked into doing this.” she groaned as Roxas glared, “You could have just told me where Star is!”
“She doesn’t want you knowing where she is! She’s a really private person!”
“Well then we can meet anywhere!” he replied as she gritted, “Look, it’s not exactly easy for her to get here. Whatever you think you had with her, get over it. It was just a fling.”
“What do you know about it--"
“She has a boyfriend!” she shouted enraged causing him to stop, a bit hurt. “She finally got in touch with the guy who gave her that necklace and they started dating, alright? And they got into a fight yesterday when he heard she lost the necklace. She wants it back. ASAP.”
“.... then I’ll give it to her...” he said stubbornly as she groaned, “God, what’s your problem?!”
“I found it... I’ll be the one to return it.”
“She’s in college!” she told him. “She’s stuck in classes, her dorm, work, and club activities. She barely has any time to sleep. You really want to make her suffer more?!”
“I’ll deliver it to her myself then.” he offered. Before she could continue, he said, “Come on guys... Let’s go.” They left as Yuffie gave her a look, “What happened to the contacts?”
“I forgot you only gave me one pair and its suppose to only be used for a day.” she sighed. Yuffie did the same, “Well, at least you know how to improvise... but you’re digging a deeper hole...”
“I know what to do...” she said. “But I’m gonna need a lot... and I mean, a lot of help.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Huh?” Hayner said as class began the next day. He whispered to Roxas, “Looks like Kaylie’s not here..."
“So?” Roxas responded as he said, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen her miss school before...” Roxas shrugged again, “Why should we even care?” He shrugged in response, “I dunno... It just seems a little weird....”
“Bright side is we won’t get bugged by the disciplinary committee.” he pointed out as Hayner thought, “Whoa... you’re right. It’s usually Kaylie who picks a fight with us isn’t it?” He scratched his head, “Huh, wonder why that is...”
“She doesn’t like us, we don’t like her. That’s just the way it’s always been.” Roxas explained as he shook his head, “Nah, I don’t think so... I mean, I for one do not not like her. I mean look at her, she’s hot. You’ve got to admit that.”
“... No I don’t.” he said. “And what does that have to do with anything? She’s a jerk to us.”
“Well, I guess I could get a little too persistent sometimes with her... It’s understandable every now and then...” he pointed out as Roxas asked, “Well, what about Olette and I? She’s vile to all of us! The only one she doesn’t seem to have any hatred for is Pence.”
“I dunno. Maybe you should ask her...” he said as Yuffie, who was sitting right in front of them turned, “You know, maybe if you guys weren’t such assholes she’d be nice to you.”
“Why don’t you stop eavedropping and help your friend with that bulliyng problem of hers.” Roxas responded. She glared, “Well maybe it’s time you man up and grow an actual dick.” She turned back as the teacher walked in, stopping Roxas from giving a comeback.
~
“...” Kaylie laid
silently on the bed as she stared at something in her hand. She bit her lip,
unsure of how to react as she sighed, “... I knew it was too good to be
true...”
“Kay!” she heard a
familiar voice call as she entered the room. “Come on. We only got a few hours
left. They’ll be here soon!” She nodded as she sat up, and put the photo back
in her bag and headed off.
~
“Hey, so did you find
out?” Roxas heard Hayner ask Olette as he sat down with them at lunch. She
nodded, “I actually heard a few things. I heard a few of the students saying
how she was sick.... meaning Seifer would be on their backs without mercy.”
“Kaylie always was the
one holding him back, wasn’t she?” Pence smiled. “He’s only ever well not mean
when she’s around.” Roxas cut in, “Are we still talking about the same Kaylie
and Siefer? The ones who always pick on us every chance they get?”
“Well, if you hear
everybody else.... Seifer seems to take it easy on them because Kaylie says
something.” Olette pointed out. Hayner thought about it, “You know, its really
true. I remember seeing Seifer and his losers picking on a kid and writing him
up a detention slip when Kaylie cut in and ripped the slip in half.”
“And when she told the
kid to leave, she and Seifer got into a spat about it.” he smiled. “She really
can be nice.”
“Well what makes us any
different?” Roxas questioned. “Sure, she’s nice to everyone... but why are we
excluded?”
“... Only Kaylie would
know that...” Olette sighed. She continued, “Anyways, I passed by Yuffie on the
way here and she was talking to Leon about her. She said she was faking being
sick in order to go see Star at her dorm. I heard she’s going to Twilight
University.”
“University?! Wow, she
must be a brainiac!” Hayner beamed.
“Well, now we know
where to find her.” Pence said as Roxas smiled, “Let’s go after school then.”
They all nodded.
~
“So... now the hard
part...” Hayner said as they entered the university campus. They soon stood
near multiple dorm buildings as he groaned, “How to find her...” Roxas sighed,
“I guess I didn’t think this through very well... Sorry for dragging you guys
along.”
“Don’t worry about
it...” Pence said. “Anything for you buddy. We’ll find her.” Olette soon lit
up, “And I think I might know how!” They all gave her a look as she pointed at
a familiar looking guy walking out of a dorm building.
“Leon!” Hayner called
as they approached. He gave them a look, “Do I know you?”
“Yeah, yeah. We’re
juniors, we’re unpopular, no you don’t know us. But we’re here to see Star!
This is her building right?!” Hayner said as they looked at the building he was
in front of . He said, “What do you want to see her about?”
“We went over this
already!” Hayner groaned as Roxas moved forward, showing him the necklace.
“It’s Star’s. We want to return it to her.” He gave him a look, “She’s been
going nuts looking for that thing...” He moved out of the way, holding the door
open for them. “Room 103.” They quickly rushed in and soon found the room.
“This is it...” Roxas
said as he knocked on the door nervously. A surprise look appeared on their
face as a guy opened the door. His bright blue eyes looked right through them
as he moved his muscular arm up, combing his fingers through his spiky blond
hair. He asked, “Who the hell are you guys?”
“W-W... Sorry...” Roxas
said. “I thought this was Star’s room--”
“Hey, Star... were you
expecting company?” he called looking into the room. At that angle, Roxas was
able to see her familiar blond hair, long and silk like as she sat on her bed,
book open and notebook in hand as she wrote down notes. She looked up as he
recognized her brown eyes that shined the night of the dance. He smiled,
“Star!”
“.... Do I know you?”
she said moving her stuff out of the way and getting up off the bed. The guy
moved a bit so she could face them as Roxas said, “Yeah. I look a little
different.. I had fangs the night of the dance... and helped you with Seifer.”
She seemed to hesitate as she looked at him, “... heh...” A smile formed on her
face as she said, “It’s hard to recognize you without the dark hair and red
contacts...” He smiled in response, “Figured... It’s really great to see you
again.”
“I’m surprised you
managed to find me....” she beamed. “Speaking of which... what are you doing
here?” He soon held up the necklace as she smiled, “My necklace!”
“I fixed it too.... I
know it means alot to you so I’ve been searching for you like crazy the past
week.” he said as she said, “Thanks...oh, I still don’t know your name...”
“Roxas...” he beamed.
“Oh, and these are my friends. Hayner, Pence, and Olette.” She smiled, “Oh so
you’re the infamous Roxas...” He gave her a look as she continued, “Kaylie’s
complained a lot about you.” He sighed, “Please don’t believe a word she
says... She and I don’t really get along.”
“Don’t worry. As much
as I love that girl, I don’t hold grudges against people I don’t know...” she
stated. “It’s nice to meet you all.”
“It’s about time we
met!” Hayner beamed. He wrapped an arm around Roxas’s shoulder, “This guy has
been talking nonstop about you!”
“Hayner!”
“Who is this guy?” the
guy who opened the door for them gave Roxas a look as she smiled, “Oh, sorry.
Um, Roxas. This is Cloud... he’s my friend who gave me that necklace...” He
flinched, remembering what Kaylie had told him.
“She has a boyfriend!”
she shouted enraged causing him to stop, a bit hurt. “She finally got in touch
with the guy who gave her that necklace and they started dating, alright? And
they got into a fight yesterday when he heard she lost the necklace. She wants
it back. ASAP.”
“Oh, I-It’s nice to
meet you.” he gave a forced smile. “Star’s spoken of you a lot... You’re a
really lucky guy...” He stopped and handed it to him, “I believe this was your
gift to her....” He took it from him as he said, “Star?” She moved in front of
him as he clasped it around her neck and she smiled, fiddling with it again,
“Thanks so much, Roxas. You’re a lifesaver.”
“Don’t mention it...”
he said.
“I hate to do this to
you all, but we have a midterm tomorrow...” she said apologetically. Pence soon
said, “Don’t worry about it. We just wanted to make sure you got that back.”
“It was nice meeting
you Star!” Hayner said, heading for the door.
“Good luck on your
midterm you two.” Olette said as Roxas seemed frozen for a moment, standing
before Star and Cloud as he sighed, “Star-”
“Hey, Star! Guess
what-- what’s going on?” a girl ran in the room as she stopped seeing the
people there.
“They found my
necklace, Tifa.” she smiled. “Oh, this is my roommate Tifa. Tifa, this is Roxas
and his friends.”
“Oh, so this is Roxas.”
she laughed. “Heard from Kaylie that you kept Star’s necklace hostage until you
got to see her. If it weren’t so crazy, I’d think it was almost cute.” He gave
a soft smile, “Well... that’s just me... We should be going...”
“Nice meeting you.” she
said as they soon left. Tifa locked the door behind them as Star soon relaxed
as she fell back on the bed she was studying on.
“Well, I think they
bought it. “Cloud sighed.
“I’d say so. You both
did a great job.” Tifa beamed. “At least from what I heard in the next room...”
“Thanks again you
guys... I owe you both so much... again.” she smiled at them, sitting up as she
looked down at the necklace hanging around her neck. Tifa sighed, sitting next
to her, “I don’t understand why you didn’t just tell him you were Star, Kay.”
“I don’t like him, he
doesn’t like me... we just don’t get along.” she stated as she gave her a look,
“But you guys did get along. At the dance. You guys liked each other.”
“And the key word being
liked. As in past tense. It was all just a fling.” she said strongly. Cloud
said, “It would’ve been easier than going through all this trouble.”
“This wasn’t trouble.”
“Kaylie.” Tifa scolded.
“ You ditched school, came all the way out here, had Aerith do your make-up,
she let you pretend to date her boyfriend, actually talked Cloud into
pretending to be your boyfriend which is still pretty surprising, and to top it
all off, saying its no trouble... when you know this whole thing has been
stressing you out.”
“... Fine it was a lil
trouble...” she said as Cloud groaned, “Well, I’m gonna find Aerith. I’ll leave
this to you Tifa...” He left as she told her, “So... now its gonna be like Star
never existed?” She nodded.
“And if Roxas comes
back looking for her?” she wondered as Kaylie answered, “He’s not. Star’s
unavailable now. He’s not gonna be interested.”
“Unavailable now is
different than unavailable forever.” she pointed out as she sighed, “Well then
she moved away.”
“Kay-”
“Hey, Kay.” they heard
as someone knocked on the door. “They just got back on the bus. Shall we go?”
“Yeah.” she called. She
smiled to Tifa, getting back up, “Thanks again for everything. Tell Aerith I’ll
give her a call later. She really made all this possible for me...” She nodded,
“One last thing Kay...” She stopped as she looked at her necklace. “He’ll know
if he sees that...”
“That’s why I’m not
gonna let him.” she said strongly. “I can’t screw this up again...”
“Screw what up again?”
she wondered as Kaylie went silent. But sighed, “I have to go...” She left
without another word.
~
“That’s good to hear.”
Yuffie beamed as she, Kaylie, and Leon hung out as his place. “Everything
worked out perfectly, you got your necklace back, we are now back to our
drama-free lives!”
“Well as drama-free as
an adolescent life gets.” Kay rolled her eyes with a smile. “Anyways, let’s
talk about that party that you’re throwing next weekend Leon.” He gave her a
look, “I don’t remember ever talking about a party...”
“Haha, come on Leon.
You know you’ve been talking about throwing a party to put Kaylie’s amazing
DJ skills to use!” Yuffie went along with her as he sarcastically said, “Oh,
you two mean the party that you’re throwing at my place because Seifer is too
much of a douche to let you throw one at home and Yuffie’s place is too small
for a party? Right. I remember now. That was just a few seconds ago.”
“Exactly.” She beamed.
“What’s the point of DJ-ing if I don’t get to do it often. A party every now
and then is perfect for practice.” Yuffie said, “So, who should come?”
“Everyone of course.
How else am I suppose to network?” Kaylie said as she stopped herself, “Oh,
except the disciplinary committee. They’d ruin everything. We gotta make sure
no one leaks to them about this.”
“Alright, so Kay will
handle the entertainment, I’ll take care of snacks and drinks, so Leon, you’re
in charge of making sure the house has enough space for dancing and partying.”
Yuffie said as he sighed, “Of course, I get the heavy lifting job.”
“Perfect. This will be
a party to remember! And break!” Kaylie lit up.
~
“...” Roxas sat quietly
at his usual table during lunch a few days after their trip to Twilight
University. He soon heard, “Seriously?” He looked up to see Hayner, Pence, and
Olette looking at him concerned. He said, “Where’ve you guys been?”
“Roxas, you’ve been
dazing out a lot lately.” Olette said worried. “We told you we were all gonna
meet at the office to help Merlin with some of the textbooks he needs moved.”
He thought, “Oh... I guess it slipped my mind. Sorry...”
“Rox, I know it’s hard.
Seeing Star and that guy of hers, but you gotta move on.” Hayner told him. “Get
out there! There’s so many other girls in the world. You’ll meet the right one
someday.”
“You’re right.” he
forced a smile again. “I’ll be fine. Don’t worry.” The bell rang as they soon
headed to class. Hayner soon lit up as someone passed by him, “Hey, cutie, I
think you’re a lil off. You’re suppose to be running over here.” He opened his
arms wide, as if waiting for her to come into his arms as she gave him a look,
“Not even in your dreams, loser.” She left without another word as Olette
rolled her eyes, “You were asking for that Hayner. You know she’d never give
you the time of day.”
“Hey, anything is
possible. And one day I may just get that date with Kaylie.” he smiled.
“She seemed alot nicer
today don’t you think?” Pence said. Olette nodded, “Actually, I think I know
why. Check this out.” She pulled out a paper from her pocket as she said,
“Since I’m on yearbook, I hear a lot of things from Cid. With the winter dance
approaching next month, the student body council has been going over details
off it and they have decided to have Leon DJ. But I heard that since she missed
her chance at the Halloween dance, Kaylie is now the DJ for the Winter
Wonderland formal.”
“Wow... so maybe she
just found out about it.” Hayner said. “No wonder that smile seems so much
brighter.” Olette gave him a little shove as Pence said, “Well yeah, that
definitely beat my theory.” They all gave him a look as he said, “Leon talked
to me about it earlier. I guess there’s gonna be a huge party at his place this
Friday and no disciplinary committee. Snacks, Drinks, Entertainment.
Everything. We just need to show up.”
“You had me at no
disciplinary committee.” Hayner beamed. “And Leon’s one of the most popular
seniors! This is a great opportunity!”
“What does that have to
do with Kaylie being nice? She’s apart of the disciplinary committee.” Roxas
asked as Olette replied, “She’s friends with Leon. Obviously an exception and
besides. We’ve already covered that she’s saved a lot of people from Seifer’s
reign of terror.”
“... but she doesn’t
like us... why should we go if she’s there?”
“She’s one girl. Come
on. We can’t let her ruin our fun.” Olette said. “And she’s probably in too
good of a mood to mess with us anyways.” He was quiet but sighed, “Alright,
fine.” They all cheered in excitement.
~
“Oh, Yuffie.” Kaylie
lit up after school on Friday. “Let’s stop at my place first. I keep forgetting
to give you your clothes back.”
“Just keep them.” she
shrugged.
“I can’t... not with my
snoopy brother around. I don’t want to risk it.” she said. “I can’t even let a
small chance of him finding out about me being Star go by. Which is why I need
you to take my costume too.” She sighed, “Alright fine. But I am not stopping
by my house. I wanna get to the party already! You know how sad it will be if
the hosts are late to their own party?”
“Relax.” she laughed at
her best friend. “We still got an hour.”
“And Seifer’s not
there?”
“Nope. As disciplinary
committee leader, he’s talking to the principal about how things are going with
it. Suppose to be an hour long so we should be good.” she smiled. As they soon
got to her place, they hung out in her room as she said, “Do me a favor and
dump out all the stuff in my bag on my bed. I need my laptop and my headphones
in there. I’ll get your stuff.”
“Got it.” she said. As
Kaylie ruffled through her closet, Yuffie dumped all her schoolwork in her bag
onto her bed as something caught her eyes. A photo. She stared at it as she
soon heard, “Alright... your clothes, my costume, and my pair of contacts that
I had to buy and they only had the ones that lasted a month.”
“... yeah... I don’t
think I need those.” she rolled her eyes as Kaylie teased, “Well, save them for
a rainy day when you need to pretend to be someone else. I promise you, you
will have that day at least once.”
“Haha, fine.” she said
as she took the bag of stuff from her.
“Did you find my
headphones?” she asked heading over to her laptop. She picked it up as Yuffie
shook her head, “No... but I did find this.” She held up the photo as Kaylie
flinched. “Why didn’t you tell me... that your mysterious vampire was Roxas?”
She looked away, unsure of what to say. The photo was taken at the dance. Her
mysterious vampire posed happily with his three friends. The princess, zombie,
and ghost were obviously Hayner, Pence, and Olette. It was no doubt that Roxas
was the vampire she was with.
“It’s not important.”
she moved past her, putting her laptop in the bag. She soon dug through her
drawers, soon pulling out her headphones as Yuffie responded, “What the hell
are you talking about?! You were talking about your mysterious vampire the
entire car ride back from the dance! Even the week we were desperately looking
for your necklace....” She was quiet. “I was beginning to wonder why you
stopped talking about him when you got your necklace back... I thought you were
just too busy with this party and homework and shit... but that wasn’t it.”
“Fi-”
“It’s because you found
out he was Roxas.” she caught her. “Kay... what is the problem between you and
Roxas?”
“Nothing.” she stuffed
her headphones in her bag and zipped it up. She took the photo and threw it in
her trashbin, “Come on. We’re gonna be late.”
“Kay-”
“Fi, we’re suppose to
be hosting a party. I don’t want to discuss this right now.” she stated
as Yuffie sighed, “Fine. But we are gonna talk about it.”
“... Fine...” she
replied as the two headed off.

“Damn... now this is
one amazing party!” Hayner beamed as they walked into Leon’s place; groups of
people already filling the house, the most popular tunes loudly echoing off the
walls, tables full of snacks and drinks, everything needed for a party. “What’d
I tell you guys?! Come on!” He rushed in, beginning to mingle as the rest of
his friends went to enjoy the party. A surprise look appeared on Roxas’ face as
he glanced at Kaylie DJ-ing on a small stage in the living room. As a large
smile formed on her face, a familiar person entered his mind.
“Star?”
