Pairing: Shino X OC (slight Kiba X OC)
Summary: The MVP for the school's volleyball team is the best! Nothing seems to get her out of her focus... except him. Every time she sees him, hears him, or even hears his name, she gets all klutzy and screws up. Will she be able to get out of this habit?
~~~ After school practice~~~
“You don't know how much I hate you right now!” Kaya yelled at her as she passed the ball to Ryu. She answered, “Hey, the closer you get to him, the better it is for you.” She hit the ball back. “Shino alert...”
“Wha...” Kaya said as she looked at the floor with a blush.
“Kaya!”
“What?!” she screamed as she looked up and went face to face with the volleyball. Ryu said, “I repeat... you're a klutz!”
“...here...” an ice pack appeared in front of Kaya's face as Shino helped her up. Ryu smirked, “You should take a break, Kaya...”
“Hey! Ryu! Pass the ball!” Kiba said as he took a stance. Her eyes gleamed, “Gladly...” She threw it up and hit it right at Kiba's face. She said sarcastically, “Oops... I guess it was too hard...”
“Wha... no... that was like a slap on the wrist...” Kiba said as he got right back up, trying to act tough. Shino stated, “You have a huge mark on your face.... you may need the ice pack more than Kaya...”
“Geez... make me feel guilty, why don't you Shino...” Ryu sighed. She dropped the ball and announced, “Kaya and I are taking a break...” The other players nodded. “Shino, can you watch over Kaya. I'll take Kiba to get an ice pack.” He nodded as Kaya blushed again and glared at Ryu as she left, pulling Kiba away by the collar of his jacket.
“...so... how's your face?” Shino asked. She stuttered, “... umm... well... it's fine....” They sat in silence.
“Ow!” Kiba said as he was thrown into the wall as Ryu stared back into the gym. Shino and Kaya were just sitting there. She groaned, “Man, Kaya... that's not helping at all...”
“What are you staring at?” Kiba said looking into the gym too. She glared, “Kiba... get off me...” His arm was over her as she whacked him off. Then she thought, “..hey... Kiba. I'm gonna need you to do me a favor.”
“Um, I should probably get back to practice... we've got an upcoming game so we need all the practice we can get.” Kaya said as she got up. Shino nodded, “I know you'll win.” He began to head off as Kiba and Ryu came back. Ryu began talking with him.
“What were you talking to Shino about, Ryu...” Kaya raised an eyebrow.
“Nothing... don't worry about it... by the way, I'm not gonna be with you guys at lunch.” she said as she served the volleyball.
“Why?”
“I've got plans.” she stated.
“...could be more descriptive...” Kaya said as she returned the ball.
“...fine... I'm gonna be... with Kiba.” she stated.
“What?!” she screamed as the ball hit her face again. Ryu sighed as she said, “I think practice is finished. Let's get to the locker room.”
“You're really having lunch with Kiba?!” everyone questioned as they got dressed. Ryu sighed, “Gee, thanks for telling everyone, Kaya...”
“Okay when did all this happen?!” she questioned.
“When I got him an ice pack, when else?” she answered.
“And he just asked you?” Ten Ten wondered. She nodded, “Well, you know how he is... he's a flirt. He asked me to go to lunch with him and I just thought why not?”
“What happened to playing hard to get?”
“Well, I've got to give in to him sometimes... otherwise he won't think I'm interested at all.” she stated. “So this might be the perfect opportunity. Oh, I'm taking off. We're going home together.”
“Oh, yea. You guys live nearby each other right?” Temari said. “Sorta, childhood friends right?” She nodded, “Yup. So, I'll catch you all later.” She took off without another word. For about the next week, Ryu seemed to be more with Kiba rather than Kaya and the other girls.
“So are you two dating or what?!” Temari and Ten Ten asked her. She replied, “Why do you need to know...”
“Hello, teammates! Friends! We deserve to know!” they yelled at her. Then she said, “You'll find out...” She caught up with Kiba as Kaya came over to them.
“Geez... you seem to be pretty obsessed with what's going on with Ryu and Kiba...”
“Hello, it's not like her!” Ten Ten stated. “Something's up.”
“What? You don't think Ryu can fall in love?”
“It's not just that... she's doesn't seem to trust us anymore... it's like... we don't know each other...” Temari said. “She's changed since she started becoming closer to Kiba... I dunno... but... I'm annoyed by her now. She's just... ugh... forget it. I'm going to practice. Come on Ten.” They took off as Kaya headed over to Ryu.
“Oh... Kaya...” Ryu said as she took notice.
“Hey...” she smiled. “Long time no see...” She nodded, “Yea, sorry...”
“Listen, I know you might have plans... but I was wondering if you could have some lunch with me and the other girls.”
“Yea... it sounds like fun... but I have this feeling the girls don't like me anymore... so that's why I stopped hanging out with you guys. And I started hanging with Kiba and his group.”
“Really... I thought you didn't like us...”
“Well... It's not that I don't like you...”
“Ryu... Kiba... we gotta go.” they heard as Kaya got stiff. Ryu sighed, “I guess you've still got that problem... I gotta go. Catch ya around.” She left as Kaya wondered, “When did she start becoming close to Shino...”
“Hey, Shino. Can I have a word with you?” Ryu asked. He nodded as Ryu said, “Kiba, go on without us...” He nodded as Shino wondered, “What's up?” She asked confidently, “Be my boyfriend.”
“KAYA!!!!” she heard as she was pounced on.
“Ow... what do you want...” she asked Ten Ten and Temari as had a concerned look on their face. Ten Ten said, “You won't believe what just happened...”
“What...”
“It's about Ryu...”
“Oh my gosh... she finally got with Kiba?!” she question surprised. “That's like... oh my gosh that's crazy! I've got to talk to her!”
“NO!” they yelled as they stopped her. Temari said, “It's not that she got with Kiba...”
“We told you she's been different lately, but this was soooo low!” Ten Ten growled.
“What did she do...”
“She...” Temari stated. “is dating Shino.”
“Ryu!” she heard as she was tackled by Kaya. “Is it true?”
“Is what true?” she asked as she whacked her off.
“You and Shino! Are you... and Shino really going out...”
“Yea.” she stated as Kaya became heart broken. She questioned, “B-But why?! You know I like him! An-and I thought you liked Kiba...”
“I did... but crushes come and go.” she stated. “You got me into Shino... he's hot... sorry, but I'm not breaking up with him if that's what you were going for.”
“But.. I thought we were best friends...why would you...”
“Were friends...” she interrupted. “I guess not anymore. See ya.” She took off after Shino and Kiba. Kaya just stood their shocked and feeling betrayed.
